The end of the chapter. | Closed

Sunny took a deep breath, pushing her hair away from her face. It had been growing much longer, she noticed, and sighed.

She was standing in her dorm room, alone, but her side of the room was devoid of her books, clothes, even the random candy wrappers she often left lying around the room, much to the disapproval of her dormmates. Sunny felt like crying, thinking of how Hogwarts had become close to a true home in the time she had spent here.

Nope. She couldn’t cry. She had to be happy, that she at least had a chance to be here. Picking up a quill and paper, she decided to write a letter to everyone close to her explaining her permanent absence.

Hi guys!

I don’t know where to start here.. I might as well be as blunt as possible. I’m leaving Hogwarts. My parents want me to be homeschooled again.

I’ll miss you all and the amazing time I’ve spent here. It’s been completely amazing. You all better remember me even when I’m gone~!

Satisfied, she grabbed her bags, and walked down the stairs to the owlery one last time. Attaching the notes to the owls, she let them flutter off to her friends. Then she noticed that she hadn’t sent one last note. Sunny was about to attach it to another school owl when she took out her quill again, writing something at the bottom to the one person she was sending this to.

Thank you for, well, being there for me. You did mean a lot to me and you always will. I’ll miss you lots, and I wish you all the best in the future!

Happy with what she had written, she finally attached this last note to the remaining owl who seemed to be looking at her impatiently. Sunny grinned at the owl. “I’ll miss you and all the other school owls too.” She laughed, as the owl flew off. She really would miss this wonderful school.

Sunny picked up her bags and walked off to the gates of the school, her head held high. The sun was shining brightly in the sky, and she smiled. Sunny days seemed to mean something to her - that’s why she was called Sunny, after all. ‘A great big ray of sunshine,’ her parents used to describe her. ‘Determined and happy, always smiling, always looking forward.’ That’s who she was, and would always be.

“Goodbye, Hogwarts.” Sunny mumbled under her breath, and walked away.
